Dave and I went coat shopping on Sunday. We originally headed out to get a coat for him, but ended up both getting new winter gear. This turned out to be a very, very good thing as the next morning I had an extremely cold session in the blustering wind. But, I mean, I got to wear my big heavy coat, warm toque and just loads of layers, so I was pretty good. Chantal + Mathieu, and their adorable little girl Mila, on the other hand, had to bear the cold with far less protection and they were such champs about the whole thing!!
But I suppose that shouldn’t surprise me, these two have always been wonderful to work with no matter the weather. It rained and was a little damp on their wedding day and Chantal was just getting over a cold during her first maternity session and not a complaint was made from their side of things. What really surprised me was Mila. Two year-olds tend to not last long for photo shoots at the best of times, add cold temperatures and winds and I thought I would have about 5 minutes before she checked out, maybe 10 if I was supremely lucky. But this little cutie surprised us all as she was so amazingly good during the entire session. Full of laughter and smiles and oh so many stories, and that adorable curly hair, oh my goodness, her sweetness just about made us all forget the uncomfortable coldness. Maybe she just knew how special this whole thing was as she is about to become a big sister to not one but two little baby boys this winter! And if they inherit even a smidgen of her cuteness, this family will be completely overflowing with it for sure!
I have loved every session I have gotten to do with Chantal + Mat, and this one was definitely no different. But I must say, Mila adds so much love and sweetness to two already amazingly kind and thoughtful people, so my guess is, their next session with their whole family is going to be something truly magical!!
