Orchard View Retirement Home Vow Renewal

Valentine’s Day landed on a weekday this year and that resulted in Dave and I celebrating the holiday on the weekend rather than on the day itself. Although to be fair, we don’t really celebrate the holiday most years, as we really just have dinner at home and watch a movie or Netflix together, which sounds sweet and all, but it isn’t really any different than most nights. Anyway, the delayed celebration meant I was able to do something pretty darn special on Valentine’s Day with some incredibly amazing couples.

I drove out to Almonte and celebrated Valentine’s Day by photographing Vow Renewals at the Orchard View by the Mississippi Retirement Home. It was such an amazing experience and I found myself near tears multiple times during the day as I listened to some of the stories of these couples and got to see just how much they all care for their spouses. It was beyond words heart-warming and something I will cherish for a long time to come.

Everyone got all dolled up and through the coordination of the wonderful team and the assistance of some pretty awesome volunteers, they got to renew their love for each other just like they did on their wedding days. And of course, they got to have some fun after the ceremony with the assistance of some fun photobooth props and a delicious lunch reception.

Everyone was so sweet and thoughtful, and can I just point out how gorgeous this place is?! I have been to several retirement homes throughout my life, and none have ever been as bright, beautiful, and altogether welcoming as Orchard View. The pond and green wall in the lobby were definitely some of my favourite highlights.

All in all, I can’t think of a better way to have spent this year’s mid-week Valentine’s Day than with all of these incredible people!
