Prince of Wales Bridge + Chinatown Engagement Session: Emilie + Brandyn

If you have checked out our portfolio, or are a regular reader here on the blog, you have likely noticed that the majority of our sessions involve a great deal of nature. We typically like to do sessions in natural settings, incorporating the trees, leaves and flowers into our photos as much as possible. And for the most part, our clients like that too, which makes sense as you tend to draw in the same type of client that you show in your work. But every once in a while it is really nice to change it up, and shoot in a much more urban area, and this of course leads us into Emilie + Brandyn’s engagement session.

This super adorable couple lives in Chinatown here in Ottawa and wanted their engagement session to represent them as a couple, and the neighbourhood that they love so much. So we started at the nearby Prince of Wales Bridge. But instead of capturing the natural side of the area as we have in the past, we focused on the industrial architecture of the bridge, and of course the wonderful graffiti art that covers the now abandoned area.
After a few shots at the bridge, we headed into the heart of Chinatown. After an outfit change and some refreshing craft beer on their porch, we walked along Somerset and incorporated the art, architecture and atmosphere of the area. It was so much fun walking and chatting with these two and learning all about what drew them into the area and the things they love the most about their neighbourhood (including an annual street party!!). We found some really great textures and backgrounds for their images and I am so glad they requested this as the setting for their session.
