Ottawa Arboretum Anniversary Session: Mary-Gail + Michael

Fall-Arboretum-Anniversary-Session-Ottawa-Stephanie-Beach-PhotographySome DJs do what is called an anniversary dance to kick off the evening. They bring all the couples onto the dance floor and as the song plays they slowly dwindle down the group by getting the more recently married couples to sit back down. In the end, the longest marriages stand before everyone and it is always so amazing and inspiring to see them still in love, but more than that, still having a great time together! I don’t think Sarah + Kelvin’s wedding day had an anniversary dance, but if they had Sarah’s parents Mary-Gail + Michael, with 38 years of married happiness, definitely would have been standing in front of everyone at the end of the song.

Ottawa Family Session at Andrew Haydon Park: The Griffioens

Ottawa-Family-Photography-Andrew-Haydon-Park-Stephanie-Beach-PhotographyOne of my favourite things about my job is the relationships we create with our clients. To us, photographing a wedding day is so much more than just that one day – and my favourite moments often come from the sessions we end up doing with our clients as they live the rest of their lives.

Don’t get me wrong, I feel pretty darn fortunate to have been part of Sarah + Anders’ wedding day, and we had an absolute blast for sure, but getting to watch them start and now expand their family has been so amazing! And getting to hang out with their tiny humans is pretty fantastic as they really are great kids!

Ottawa Family Photography: First Birthday Studio Portraits, Mackenzie

Ottawa-Family-Photography-First-Birthday-Stephanie-Beach-PhotographyIf you have been following us and our work for a while now, then you know just how much we love our clients. And you also know how much we love getting to work with them again and again. It’s such a joy to be able to capture their milestones as their families grow.

And that definitely includes Marie-France + Jonathan. They really are a rock star couple turned family and I am always so excited to get to work with them! And that excitement has really only grown since they expanded their family last year with the addition of little Mackenzie. She is just so incredibly adorable – I mean just look at her!!!

Sheila McKee Park Anniversary Portrait Session: Karen + Jason

Anniversary-Portrait-Session-Sheila-McKee-Park-Stephanie-Beach-Photography-fall-forestI know I have said it before, in fact I am pretty sure I have said it multiple times this year alone, but we get to work with the very best couples. Amazing people who are so lovely! But when the wedding day is over, it can sometimes be a while before we get to see them again.

Our calendars are so full during the year, that we don’t get a ton of free time to hang out with people outside of weddings and other sessions – at least not during the peak seasons. Now, I’m not complaining, because I do love my job very much, but it is always great to catch up with some of the people we photographed on their wedding days and finding the time for that can be difficult. And that’s why I was so excited when Jay reached out to me about an anniversary session for him and his wife Karen!
