And this location is an absolute dream come true! Gatineau Park in general is a real show stopper when it comes to natural beauty, but the Mackenzie King Estate is a wonderful mix of nature and all those lovely historic elements. Plus, as an added bonus, it doesn’t take that long (or too strenuous of a walk) to get from the parking lot to the actual ruins (or main building or that matter). What I will say is that there are bugs, a lot of bugs. That being said, I learned less than a week later that I probably shouldn’t have complained about the bugs during this session as I was going to learn just how bad they could be in this area – but that is for another time.
We headed to the site in the morning, which was great for not only the light, but also the foot traffic – as there was none! Seriously, it was just us and the maintenance teams preparing the site. I don’t think it could have gotten any better – but I suppose that is what happens when you visit a tourist/hiking location in the morning of a regular business day.
But honestly, the best thing about this session was the couple themselves. I know it sounds corny, or like something I am supposed to say because they are my clients, but I really did enjoy my morning with these guys. They are super awesome people who I am so thankful to have as one of our couples and I can’t wait to be a part of their wedding day – I know it is going to be a really, really great time!
