I think we all have our favourite places, both in our homes and outside in the real world. For me, my favourite places are almost all inside my cozy home, where I don’t have to worry about what I’m wearing or how my hair is doing that day, but when it comes to outdoor places – this little forest nestled nearby is definitely high up on the list! And I am so glad Christine + Sam loved it too! Although, the ice-covered hill going in both directions did take the awesomeness of this place down just a tad on this particular day.
We are fortunate enough to work with couples we really love and who share a similar outlook when it comes to their wedding days. They trust us to be able to capture that for them and it really does mean the world to us. And sometimes we find couples (or rather they find us) that we really, really click with. Couples who have that down-to-earth, genuinely kind nature we are drawn to. The nicest thing about all of this, is that we end up having so much fun each and every time we get to hang out with them. Patricia + Mike are, without question, one of these couples!
So as all of your friends and family have probably notified you through social media, it’s snowing again – and not just a little either. Despite the fact that the snow was almost gone from most yards and the temperature was quite delightful outside recently, the chilly wind and snow are back.
But I’m not complaining because the fresh snow made for an absolutely gorgeous backdrop for Patricia + Mike’s winter engagement session, which was made all the better by the fact that these two were an absolute delight to spend an afternoon with!
I love winter engagement sessions! And, if I’m being honest, I think winter may be my favourite season to shoot engagement sessions. Don’t get me wrong, I love engagement sessions any time of the year, but there is just something magical about an engaged couple in love amidst a snow covered landscape. Bundled up in a big scarf and wrapped up in each other’s arms – it doesn’t get much better than that really. I think the proof is in the pudding really, I mean just look at what Dana + Matt pulled off during their session at Gatineau Park.
Oh my goodness, the weather this year has been so ridiculously weird! Swapping between mild, rainy days and super cold temperature drops has resulted in a ground covering of both ice-topped snow and snow-covered ice. This has basically resulted in treacherous walking conditions wherever you go, which, for an already clumsy person like me, means a lot of falling. But I am happy to report that despite the weird walking conditions, I didn’t fall even once during Dana + Matt’s engagement session last week! It’s kind of a weird thing to be proud of, but I am.
