Oh my goodness, the weather this year has been so ridiculously weird! Swapping between mild, rainy days and super cold temperature drops has resulted in a ground covering of both ice-topped snow and snow-covered ice. This has basically resulted in treacherous walking conditions wherever you go, which, for an already clumsy person like me, means a lot of falling. But I am happy to report that despite the weird walking conditions, I didn’t fall even once during Dana + Matt’s engagement session last week! It’s kind of a weird thing to be proud of, but I am.
But in all seriousness, I absolutely loved this engagement session! Dana + Matt not only rocked their photos, nailing every pose, they did so while bringing a huge smile to my face as they are two of the sweetest people. They also did it despite the frigid temperatures. We threw in a few coat breaks in between photos and tried to find some spots where the wind wasn’t as bad, but this is Canada and it is January, so the cold is to be expected and Dana + Matt were real champs and, like me, only really started to feel the cold when we were back in eyesight of our cars (with the exception of some cold ears from time to time).
I also loved being back to Gatineau Park in the winter season. The last few months have been so busy that I haven’t been able to visit the places I normally do to walk and hike around, so it was really nice to venture back out to the park and get a chance to take in all the gorgeousness. And even though the walking was a little slow at times, thanks to having to smash through the ice to get a more secure footing, I really did love being back out in nature.
