I was sick, the wind was bitter cold, and by the end of their portrait session, the bottom third of my pants were completely soaked from the snow; and every minute of it was oh so fabulous and one that I wouldn’t miss for the world!

Mind over matter they always say and I definitely took that to heart at the end of last week as our adorable nephew seemed to have passed along a cold over the holidays. But I had a wedding to shoot and I wasn’t going to let myself be sick so anytime I would have said, “I’m sick”, instead I said, “I am going to be so sick on Sunday”. And as luck would have it, it worked (although it didn’t really wait until Sunday, as it hit me hard on the drive home).

When I was in high school I did a lot of extra-curriculars – like a lot. On top of being a member to a quite a few clubs, I ran a couple as well and I really did enjoy it most of the time. My high school had this really great idea of creating a group for all the presidents and leaders of the various clubs. It sounds a little silly at first, a club for all the club leaders, but it really helped all of us know what was going on so we didn’t accidentally conflict when it came to events we were each running. This group was called the Energizers (presumably because the people in it seemed to have endless energy reserves – myself excluded). Every year we would go away to a camp right as the school year started for a couple days to go over the events and whatnot of that year and we always went to the same place – Camp IAWAH. I have such fond memories of this place and the time I spent there with my friends. But to be honest, I had no idea where it was. I just got on a bus, and a little while later, we were there – it was like magic. So when Erica + Ryan requested we do their engagement session in Westport I didn’t really put two and two together.
