Niagara Falls

I spent the past few days in Southern Ontario for business meetings and at night took the opportunity to visit some of the tourist attractions down in the area and of course made a stop at Niagara Falls. It was a little cold and windy, but well worth it, in my opinion. I just love how they light the falls at night. I waited around until the lights changed to variations I really liked and I think this version is my favourite.

These are the American Falls. The Horseshoe (Canadian) Falls are normally my favourite, but this night the straight, American ones (and the way they were lit) really caught my eye.

Florida Night Photography

We drove around the Clearwater area and stumbled upon a house with some fabulously lit trees. We stopped, set up the tripod and took a few shots. Luckily, no one in the area seemed to notice, or perhaps they just didn’t care as I was clearly aimed at the tree(s) and not the houses themselves.

We also did some driving around the Sunshine Skyway Bridge at night. At the speed we were going, the result was pretty interesting.

The Windy City

I recently spent a week in Chicago doing some training for my day job and took the opportunity to see what the Windy City had to offer.
I visited the Art Institute of Chicago and was taking away by the largest collection of haystack painting by Monet (in one place).
I spent a fair bit of time at Millenium Park, both during the day and at night, and had the chance to photograph the Could Gate (aka The Bean).
And I spent some time at the South McCormick Courtyard which is next to the Art Institute of Chicago. It is a breathtakingly beautiful space that was designed by Dan Kiley. The Fountain of the Great Lakes resides within the space and was designed by Lorado Taft between 1907 and 1913. The fountain displays five women with the water passing through them in the same fashion as it passes through the Great Lakes. The entire space was gorgeous and I took many photos during my three visits there.

Montreal

We recently spent a weekend in Montreal. We visited Notre Dame Cathedral, St. Joseph’s Oratory, the Biodome, Olympic Park, the Botanical Gardens, Downtown Montreal (where they were having fireworks!) and of course, took in a Cirque show.
