Engagement Session at Toronto Harbourfront: Teri + Greg

As I mentioned in their sneak peek, I shot Teri + Greg’s engagement session over the Thanksgiving long weekend. We did the majority of the shoot as we strolled along the Toronto Harbourfront but did take a shot or two on Yonge Street before we headed towards the water. It was a rather chilly day, but the warm sun made it quite nice as long, as you stayed out of the shadows.

As anyone who knows me is painfully aware, I am not the biggest fan of Toronto. I go there for work on a semi-regular basis and of course to visit my friends and family who call it and the surrounding area home, but other than that I typically like to stay away. I normally think of it as a rather cold, concrete filled world that doesn’t really have the natural beauty that my home of Ottawa does. All of the being said, Toronto held its own with respect to peaceful beauty during this session and I was very impressed with the harbourfront. I am so glad Teri + Greg wanted to do their shoot there as it gave me a new outlook on the city. We were able to capture images with a more industrial feel to them thanks to the city’s concrete and large buildings, etc. but the majority of the shots showcased the natural side of Toronto and of course, the amazing couple I got to shoot with all afternoon!

Another reason I loved this session was because of all the personal touches. I normally have my couples select their location for the engagement shoot as it tends to make the photos mean more to them in the end, but Teri + Greg really hit the nail on the head with this one. From previous residences and nearby statues to their old running paths. I really enjoyed going through the area with them and hearing all the personal connections to the areas.

Engagement Session at Toronto Harbourfront: Teri + Greg, Sneak Peek

Last weekend was Thanksgiving here in Canada and Dave and I spent most of it with our families eating way too much food and having tons of fun. We also spent portions of it with a few awesome clients.

Just before starting our official Thanksgiving, I met up with Teri + Greg for their engagement session along the Toronto Harbourfront. The location was fabulous and the weather was simply gorgeous, though a touch chilly, and to make things even better, Teri + Greg were awesome! Here is a little sneak peek at their session.

Wedding Portraits in Downtown Ottawa: Naomi + Adam

I have wanted to shoot down by the Ottawa Locks for such a long time and Naomi + Adam were the perfect couple for this scenic location. It was cold, it was wet but thankfully the skies opened up and gave us a few brief moments to capture some great images of these two lovebirds.
As I mentioned in their sneak peek, Naomi + Adam persevered through the rather cold and wet session and we shot between rain clouds. I am so happy we didn’t cancel the shoot and even happier to have had the chance to work with these two wonderful people!

Wedding Portraits in Downtown Ottawa: Naomi + Adam – Sneak Peek

Naomi + Adam are not only a couple who is clearly in love, but they are also real troopers to persevere through the cold rain. Luckily we were able to find a few rain free intervals to get some fantastic shots around the National Arts Centre and Canal & Lock area in Downtown Ottawa.

Travel Series: Intro

I love traveling. Planning, scheduling, packing, traveling, coming home and editing photos – every aspect of it fills me with happiness and joy!!
For the past few years, Dave and I have pretty much always had something to save for that prevented us from traveling. Don’t get me wrong, I love the things we saved for like our house and wedding, but I missed traveling. Since the wedding finished up, we have been savings for travels and I am super excited! This year and next, Dave and I have a bunch of trips planned. So many that I have decided to start a new blog series here about how I travel with respect to photography. From what I bring and how I pack that gear to keep it as secure as possible, to what I look for when I am out and about in a new location.

The first of these series will be starting tomorrow as we have left for our second honeymoon trip to Seattle and Alaska (the above photos are from our first, low-budget honeymoon to Niagara Falls). It is going to be an amazing trip and I look forward sharing the photos and memories with all of you, including a helicopter ride around some glaciers!!
(and for those of you who are worried that I have just announced to the world that we are not home, keep in mind that we don’t live by ourselves so the house is far from empty)
