Cultures and traditions are such an important and beautiful part of every wedding day. And throughout the weddings we have been lucky enough to be a part of we have seen a lot of different approaches and takes on North American traditions. But what I really love is seeing different traditions and cultures mixed into one truly memorable day, and that is exactly what Juliet + Blake had planned for their wedding. From Juliet’s accessories right up to their traditional dances during the reception it was so great to see the mix from both Canada and the Philippines.
What was also really great was getting to catch up with friends from my neighbourhood as Blake and his family were my next door neighbours growing up – although the presence of the hydro line/swamp between our houses meant walking between our homes took a little longer than with most neighbours. In fact, I even got to sit and hang out with my parents for a little while during the night, which is an extra special treat if I do say so myself.
But what I keep getting tons of comments and questions about are the colours in this wedding! Juliet + Blake definitely picked the most colourful palette we have worked with yet. From Juliet’s bouquet to the reception decor, and even the wedding party themselves, there was colour at every turn; and yet it was implemented in such a lovely way that wasn’t too overpowering (at least, in my opinion). And as I mentioned in their sneak peek, the colours ended up being a handy little way for me to organize their wedding party too (thanks ROY G. BIV!).
All of that being said, at the end of the day what was really the best part of this wedding was getting to see these two start their married lives together. Juliet + Blake, the love the two of you share was so abundantly clear throughout your entire day and we were so incredibly honoured to have been able to capture it all for you!! Wedding are always so special and such a happy time, but for me, getting to witness and be a part of such a memorable day for this family who I have known for so long was definitely extra special.
