I love it when couples bring along two different outfits to their engagement session: one more casual and relaxed; and the other more formal and dressed up. It allows us to essentially get two different batches of photos in one session. So when Carla + Jean-Francois asked if they could switch outfits partway through their session, I was all for it!

Downtown Ottawa can be a very busy place, full of people, cars and tons of construction. But it can also be a really peaceful place, especially if you hit it up on a not so busy evening or time. Such was the case with Carla+ Jean-Francois’ engagement session.

It was a year ago that I got to be a part of Sandra + Hector‘s wedding day. Their wedding really was a highlight of our season last year as it was the second time that year that I was fulfilling a location dream of mine from years past. Shooting downtown in Major’s Hill Park and along the locks really showed me just how busy that area is on a summer Saturday. There were so many photographers walking around with their brides and I was ecstatic to be a part of that fantastic crowd!
I have never been the biggest fan of downtown areas. There’s very little parking, there are people everywhere and even though everyone seems to be in a hurry, they still move at a glacial pace. And even though Ottawa has a gorgeous downtown core, I tend to only head there for sessions. But, you know what makes it sooo much better, an absolutely stunning couple, a beautiful sunset and a private Escalade with full access!!
