So I really like my birthday – like really like it. I am actually the type of person to give myself not only a birthday week, but a birthday month! But historically, I have never been able to celebrate my birthday on the actual day. When I was in university, exams always ruined the birthday spirit and all the celebrations would be postponed until after everyone had suffered through all their tests. Then when I was working as an engineer, the end of March was one of the absolute busiest times of the year and everything would once again get pushed a week or so. So when I starting working for just myself, I figured I would be able to set the day aside for celebrations – but that only works if you don’t book anything on the date.
But I didn’t mind sharing the date with Jolani + Josh for even a second! These two are so kind and wonderful that I had no problems postponing my birthday celebrations a little bit to be able to capture their wedding day! And as an added bonus, these amazing people took time out of their special day to highlight my birthday by gifting us a delicious birthday cake – how cool is that?!

Make-A-Wish’s Wine for Wishes event is an extra special event for us. Not only is it a great night filled with some of the very best food and drink vendors in the area, and not only does it support a cause that we believe it so very much, but it also is the marker for our work with this wonderful charity. Wine for Wishes was the very first event we covered for

We are so lucky to get to work with families again and again as they celebrate the many special events in their lives. It usually starts out with a wedding, leads to more weddings and of course there are the family sessions. It sound corny, but each and every session really is an honour to be a part of. And I am oh so very glad that this particular series of sessions lead us to Patricia + Mike as I really can’t think of two more down-to-earth, kindhearted people and getting to capture their wedding day was just such a treat for us!
August 18, 2018 was definitely the date we had the absolute most inquiries for this year. Every year over the past little while has had a neat looking date and this year so many couples wanted 18/08/18 on their invites. Now, I know a lot of couples got married on this day, and I am sure they were some really good ones out there too, but I really do think Dave and I hit the jackpot as we got to work with Lindsay + Shawn and their absolutely wonderful group of family and friends. So yeah, I think we won!
