I have mentioned it before, but I really will do just about anything for my clients and their photos. I often end up lying on the ground during my session to get a unique angle, although as I mentioned to Natasha + Jon during their session, this is really only suggested for wide shots as a straight up the nose angle isn’t flattering for anyone. I can also be seen with mud all over my shoes, dirt on pants, and squatting is something I can do for days thanks to the long stretches of it during wedding ceremonies. But in the case of winter sessions, the dedication to getting the shot is probably best exemplified by the bruises that are currently covering my shins.
You see, although I tend to put clients on nice paths, I often end up in giant snow piles. And in the case of Natasha + Jon’s engagement session, getting a few of the shots I wanted meant I had to create some new paths through the knee-high (and higher) snow piles, which were conveniently covered in a nice layer of hard, crunchy ice. And I, being the genius I am, decided the best way to break through this would be just to push through with my legs and this bone-headed approach has resulted in my bruise-covered shins.
But, as much as this sounds like complaining, I assure you, it is not an actual complaint. As not only did I actually have fun doing it, I love the photos I was able to capture for these two super sweet people as I tromped through all that snow!
I also wanted to mention how much I love the Mill of Kintail! I haven’t been here for a few years and as soon as I got back I was quickly reminded of just how lovely this place is. It really is so peaceful and quiet here. So quiet in fact that my (somewhat loud) voice echoed throughout the trees as we set up the bridge photos. It was kind of neat, despite the fact that I don’t really like the sound of my own voice.
Natasha + Jon did such a wonderful job throughout their session and were so nice as they listened to me ramble on and on about nonsensical things, seriously, my couples must think I am crazy with the things I talk about during their engagement session!
