I love when couples decided to infuse elements from their lives together into their wedding day. Whether it be favours that include some of their favourite things, or personalized vows that include inside jokes and stories, making your wedding day your own really sets it apart from any other wedding out there. And I absolutely adore the ways Shannon + Kevin decided to make their wedding day their own by infusing parts of their proposal story and even how they met into the main events.

The weather on the day of Krysten + Jon’s engagement session wasn’t looking the best as I headed out of the house, but in the end it worked out quite nicely. And it was the same leading up to their wedding day. The forecast was calling for not only rain, but thunderstorms on Saturday, and I am so glad it changed (I am thanking the anti-rain dancing that we [and I am sure all the other Ottawa photographers] were doing leading up to the weekend) – although to be honest, I could have done with a little less humidity, but beggars can’t be choosers.
So I am not entirely sure why but so far this year I have been getting so incredibly nervous before we head out to weddings (or sessions in general). Now, I am a kind of anxious person to begin with when it comes to plans and making sure I am on time, but when it came to Shannon + Kevin’s wedding day I was extra worked up all morning for what seemed like no reason at all.
I mentioned in their sneak peek how both Amy + Mike were a little nervous and anxious during their prep, but the second they saw each other during their first look they were instantly calm and collected. It was so amazing to see two people who are just so right for one another.
2016 is our busiest year yet for weddings. We are getting to work with so many amazing couples as they celebrate their weddings, and we feel so lucky to be a part of it all. Amy + Mike’s day marks the halfway point for us and I don’t think there could have been a better couple for this.
