I believe I have mentioned before that I am not really a downtown person. The crowds, the traffic, the cement, none of it really appeals to me personally, even though it can photograph beautifully. Add the heat and humidity of a super sunny summer day onto all the things I am already not a fan of, and it’s not exactly my favourite place to be. That being said, spending the evening downtown is made infinitely better (one might even say fun) by being with two people as sweet, adorable and down-right funny as Tina + Kari.

It was a year ago that I got to be a part of Sandra + Hector‘s wedding day. Their wedding really was a highlight of our season last year as it was the second time that year that I was fulfilling a location dream of mine from years past. Shooting downtown in Major’s Hill Park and along the locks really showed me just how busy that area is on a summer Saturday. There were so many photographers walking around with their brides and I was ecstatic to be a part of that fantastic crowd!
We were picnicking in Major’s Hill Park here in Ottawa with my then future in-laws and a few friends. It was a gorgeous summer day and we were having a really nice time. Then my now mother-in-law pointed behind me at a wedding party having their portraits done. I of course thought of how beautiful the bride looked in her dress, but mostly I thought of how much I wanted to be that photographer. I wanted to be shooting a wedding in Downtown Ottawa with a gorgeous bride, her new husband and their super fun bridal party.

Yesterday was the last Summer wedding of 2014 and Sandra + Hector made sure it was fantastic!!
The couple met through friends a few years back and things naturally progressed from there. Their friends did a fantastic job setting these two up as they couldn’t be more perfect for one another. They are such a fun couple and the love they have for each other is so special, you can see so clearly how much they love and care for one another whenever you are near them.
