We were picnicking in Major’s Hill Park here in Ottawa with my then future in-laws and a few friends. It was a gorgeous summer day and we were having a really nice time. Then my now mother-in-law pointed behind me at a wedding party having their portraits done. I of course thought of how beautiful the bride looked in her dress, but mostly I thought of how much I wanted to be that photographer. I wanted to be shooting a wedding in Downtown Ottawa with a gorgeous bride, her new husband and their super fun bridal party.
Skip forward to just last January when I met Sandra + Hector to chat about their wedding day. They told me of they met through mutual friends. We chatted about how Hector proposed with a little blue-stoned ring as he wanted Sandra to be able to choose the ring that would adorn her finger for the rest of their life together. We then started chatting about their venue.
They were planning to have their ceremony and reception at the beautiful Courtyard Restaurant in downtown Ottawa and were hoping to do their Bridal Portraits in and around that same area. I was ecstatic!! I was chatting with a bride about doing photos in the very location that years before I had dreamed of shooting in. There have been so many highlights this wedding season, but being able to once again fulfill a location dream of mine really was one of the best.
Sandra + Hector’s wedding was full of so many special moments. And although I didn’t understand everything that was said as portions of the ceremony were in Spanish, and many of the guests greeted and congratulated the newlyweds in their native tongue, we were able to capture some really great moments. And, as an added bonus, it is such a beautiful language so getting to hear it all day really was a treat.
