There have been so many times where I am driving home from a wedding or session and even though it was a gorgeous day, and we got so many amazing photos that I am super excited to get o work on, I get that FOMO when I looked in my rearview mirror and see a stunning sunset in the sky. So, with that in mind, we waited for 20+ minutes at the end of this session to make sure we had taken sunset photos at the peak colour moment for Mara + Patrick’s session!Continue reading “Ottawa Major’s Hill Park Wedding Day Portraits: Mara + Patrick”
So the Fall season, as gorgeous as it was, didn’t really get a good showing this year. We had some truly stunning colours, but they didn’t last long. Summer took forever to go away, and then Winter popped up in full force so early! As as sad as this all was for true Fall-lovers like myself, it meant that the start of Winter had some unique features to it – like big, Fall-coloured trees sitting among the piles of snow. It was definitely unique and I absolutely loved that some of stuck around long enough for Danielle + Trevor’s engagement session!
I used to do surveys in different buildings around the city of Ottawa. Okay, so I didn’t do field work very often, but when I did, it was building surveys. The point is, it let me see a lot of different areas around town that I may not have spotted otherwise. The Garden of Provinces and Territories is one of those areas so when Sarah-Anne + Corey mentioned that they lived nearby I thought it would be a perfect place to start their engagement session.
After he has proposed, and after she had said yes, Helen + Yale joined me for an absolutely delightful engagement session. One of the first stops was actually behind the Parliament buildings, overlooking the city. And as I stood there I could pretty much see the spot further up the river where Dave had proposed to me not so long ago. I realized that I had just captured their proposal in such close proximity to where my own had taken place, and that made this special day even more memorable.
Ottawa photographers really are such a lucky bunch as there are so many wonderful locations in and around this city. We are even luckier when it comes to our downtown core, as unlike most city centres, our is full of great urban scenes with an abundance of nature mixed in. So when Rebecca + Keith wanted an engagement session with both an urban and rural feel, there were definitely no issues accommodating.
