Ottawa Valley Fall Country Wedding: Melanie + Michael

It was super cold as we drove down the windy, dirt roads after Melanie + Michael’s wedding, but we still had the windows down. Why you might ask? Because I get car sick fairly easily on super winding, bumpy, hill-y roads and there was no other way to describe the route out from their quite remote wedding location.

Don’t get me wrong, it was stunning! So much so in fact, that I didn’t get too bothered on the drive up because I was so distracted by the gorgeous Fall colours. But it was getting dark on the way home, and I was very tired, so the nausea definitely set in and remained for almost the entire drive home. But it was a million per cent worth it to get to work among that beautiful nature, and with this amazingly sweet couple again!

Perth Manor Wedding: Currie + Dan

When Dave and I planned our own wedding, we didn’t want our wedding party’s plus ones to be sitting at random tables with people they didn’t know. Neither of us would have enjoyed that experience ourselves so we didn’t want to impose it on anyone else. So, to still have a head table but not make anyone lonely during dinner, we invited all of wedding parties significant others to join us at the head table.

Now it may seem odd to start off someone else’s wedding post with a story of our own wedding, but there’s a point, I promise. You see, it was at this head table on our wedding day that we first met Currie. She had been dating Dan for a little while but had never met our friend group so she wouldn’t have known anyone she sat with. In hindsight, I realize now that she would have been fine as she is the nicest person ever and it is pretty much impossible to not like her, but it’s always nice to be with your person at a big event.

I suppose it is a little weird to have someone at your head table you have never met, but it worked out wonderfully in the end as we have all become great friends … oh and she and Dan got married, so I suppose it worked out for them too 😉

Stonefields Estate Wedding: Tara + Dion

It had been almost exactly six months since Dave and I captured a full wedding day. I have been lucky enough to photograph a few elopements here and there, but nothing that lasted more than a couple hours. So when we headed over to the gorgeous Stonefields Estate for Tara + Dion’s wedding we knew our bodies were about to take a beating. But every aching, sore muscle was a million per cent worth it because not only was this day stunning, but Tara + Dion made sure to fill it with so much love and awesomeness that I almost didn’t notice my tired feet, almost.

Ottawa Surprise Elopement: Allison + Matt

In getting this post together I had to go look up the most recent wedding featured here to remember how to title this one, etc., and you know what I realized? It has been 6 months since our last wedding!! SIX MONTHS!! That’s absolutely crazy to me! If I had to guess, I would have likely guessed 4 months at the most, but I obviously would have been wrong about that. But as much as this pandemic and the forced changes on weddings and events has affected me and other vendors, it has affected all of our couples too. So many people have had to drastically change their wedding day plans and it’s not an easy situation to be in. Nearly every couple we have and are working with is doing things slightly differently, including Allison + Matt

Temple’s Sugar Bush Winter Wedding: Alexis + Peter:

Temple's-Country-Wedding-Sugar-Bush-Winter-Wedding-Stephanie-Beach-PhotographyWinter weddings can be a little tricky. Of course it is cold and we need to adjust how we work outside to make sure no one gets frostbite, but there is also that pesky sun. The shorter days and earlier sunsets mean we end up with less daylight for outdoor photos, and if you aren’t super keen on having a first look (which is always our first suggestion on how to work with the shorter days), it can be a little tricky to get everything captured in the best lighting. But worry not because there are always solutions and we can work pretty darn quickly when we need to and that is exactly what we did for Alexis + Peter’s winter wedding!
