I get a little nervous before each of our weddings. It is a good kind of nervous that keeps me on my toes throughout the day and is also mostly fueled by excitement, so it isn’t anything I would really change moving forward. But for Christy + Deep’s wedding day I was much more than just a little nervous as not only was this a wedding day, it was our very first Hindu wedding. But in the end, there was really nothing new to be nervous about. The wedding day was gorgeous, everyone was so incredibly kind and helpful all day long, and we couldn’t have worked with a sweeter (or funnier) couple than Christy + Deep!
Christy + Deep were first married back in Vancouver where they now live, and opted for a second wedding day here in Ottawa to celebrate with Deep’s hometown friends + family, and we are so incredibly happy we got to be a part of it.
It was so special to both Dave and me to be able to witness and capture their Hindu ceremony and we absolutely loved every minute of it! I personally loved all the gorgeous details and colours that were incorporated into their celebration as it was just so beautiful to be around. And even more importantly, the people were so amazing! The care and attention to detail everyone put into the day to make sure Christy + Deep had a perfect time was just so wonderful to watch and get to capture for them.
And I must say, these two clever people had some of the best table names I have ever seen! They included things that one or both of them loved and ranged from Airplanes to Wengens, but some of our personal favourites were:
Baby Goats; Bunnies; Cheese; Love, Actually;
Monkey Island; Naming Things; QI; Reddit; and, Tintin
They had also included Lego as their kissing game as guests had to create something unique with the Lego (with bonus points if the design related to their table name) to get the newlyweds to kiss throughout the reception. It turned out to be super popular as there was a pretty long line to turn in designs. And as an added bonus, Christy + Deep had baby goat cake toppers that I got to play with while getting their ring shots (because, seriously, does it get better than baby goat cake toppers?!)!
Over the years we have gotten to capture some truly amazing wedding days, but I just know that Christy + Deep’s day will be a highlight of our career for a long time to come. Thank you both so much for allowing us to share this day with you and capture all the moments of it for you.
