Some couples we just click with. When we meet I instantly know that I am the photographer for them and they are the couple for me. We could talk endlessly about all the very best (and nerdiest) of things and have a wonderful time doing so. Nadine + Kevin are definitely one of those couples!
I have just the loveliest time strolling through what is quickly becoming one of my favourite forests in the city chatting with such a wonderful couple about all sorts of random, awesome things. And the fact that they brought a super cute and very well behaved puppers along with them was the icing on the cake!
Speaking of that pup, when Nadine + Kevin mentioned that they wanted to bring her along I of course welcomed the idea and recommended, as I always do, that they try to find a helper for the session who can join us and watch her when she is not in the photos. Nadine tried her best, but in the end no one was available, but she did let me know that Laila was very well behaved and wouldn’t be a problem at all. This is of course a statement I have heard many times and although I have yet to have a truly bad dog at a session, they can be easily distracted by the new environment, new person and just being outside in general and all that makes it hard for me to watch the puppy and do my job. But guys, Laila actually lived up to the statement – she was so, so good!
Since it was just the four of us, I ended up holding onto Laila when it was time for just Nadine + Kevin to be in front of the camera. Holding a dog, no matter the size, can be rather distracting, but Laila was so no problem at all – I actually had to check the leash a couple times because she was being so good that I thought I must have let go and she had scampered off. But no, she was just being patient, sniffing the ground around us and waiting until she was given more instructions. Even when I was lying right on the ground getting some shots with my crystal ball, she just waited and walked around (and over) me. She did sniff the ball, but even that ended up being great as it made for an even better photo, in my opinion.
Such a little sweetheart, but it really shouldn’t surprise me as Nadine + Kevin are sweethearts themselves. They really are so incredibly kind and thoughtful and I can’t wait for their wedding day next year – perhaps that blog post will be less about their pup and more about them…maybe.
