So Dave and I spent a couple days on the rooftop of the Brookstreet Hotel having some fun with Make-A-Wish earlier this month. I’ll be sharing more about all of that (including the photos of course) a little later on this week, but for now, the part I want to share is that I of course got sunburnt. My side of the roof was in the shade for almost the entire day, and I swear I used sunscreen – but for the last 1-2 hours of the event, I was in complete sun on the roof of a very tall building.
I mention this because when I showed up to Miranda + Jason’ engagement session, I made sure I was covered from head to toe (well, from neck to toe) to try and make sure my poor skin didn’t get any worse. And despite how uncomfortable it was to walk around in the sun and heat with long sleeves on, it was made all the better by being able to work with two absolutely marvelous people like Miranda + Jason.

I am so incredibly happy that the weather forecast was wrong leading up to Ellen + Mike’s engagement session! Everything had been calling for rain – so much so that we were thinking of alternative locations and some indoor spots. Thankfully, come Sunday morning the skies looked completely clear and super sunny and the forecast changed its opinion on the whole rain matter.
Morning sessions are quickly become a new favourite thing of mine. Sure, I have to get up pretty early to be able to get my gear prepped and breakfast eaten (and ensure I am actually awake enough to use my camera properly), but the benefits far outweigh having to set that early morning alarm. So when we were setting up a date for Jessica + Steve’s session, I was definitely up for meeting up at the very start of the day.
Whenever couples ask me if they can include their pet(s) in their engagement session I am always 100 per cent up for it. Not only will it allow me to grab some different photos for them, but it was also let them capture their family in full, including their furry, four-legged companions. The only recommendation or request I make is for them to try to bring someone along who can take care of the furry family members while we capture some non-pet focused photos.
The last little while has been a absolutely jam-packed with weddings, sessions and of course, seemingly endless editing. So much editing in fact, that I am having to really use my willpower to meet my personal deadlines as editing happens to be one of my least favourite parts of my job. But when I started working on Sabrina + Jeff’s engagement session, no willpower was needed to get through it pretty quickly as this session was just oh so fun and delicious too!
