Fall in Ottawa this year was super weird, mostly because it lasted about a week before the cold, cold winter temperatures hit the capitol. And then, basically the day before Jennifer + Steve’s session, the snow came super early too. But although it was super chilly for early November, the cross-over of the season definitely gave a unique and awesome background for their session.

Some DJs do what is called an anniversary dance to kick off the evening. They bring all the couples onto the dance floor and as the song plays they slowly dwindle down the group by getting the more recently married couples to sit back down. The weather this Fall has been really weird. At first it seemed like Summer just wouldn’t leave and then it was gone in an instant leaving everyone oh so cold, only to return for a day or so here and there. Pretty much every photographer know about Golden Hour. it’s that gorgeous time in the evening as sunset approaches where the sun is lower in the sky and creates a nice warm glow that lights subjects up so beautifully. It is my favourite time to do engagement sessions as it really is just so wonderful to shoot in! Golden Hour is so well known that even a lot of our clients have heard of it and are looking for the type of images we create using that light.
The last couple months have been absolutely stuffed with engagement and portrait sessions – and if I am being completely honest, they have been some of my absolute favourites ever!! And this isn’t even because I have gotten to stroll around some of the best locations in Ottawa, or because I am truly loving the images I have been creating, but instead it is because of the amazing people I have gotten to work with. Like Sabrina + Colin, who I feel I could have walked and chatted with for ages!!
