Fall in Ottawa this year was super weird, mostly because it lasted about a week before the cold, cold winter temperatures hit the capitol. And then, basically the day before Jennifer + Steve’s session, the snow came super early too. But although it was super chilly for early November, the cross-over of the season definitely gave a unique and awesome background for their session.
The Arboretum was the perfect setting for this session as it gave us the chance to really highlight the whole two seasons in one thing the Mother Nature was giving us. And Jenn + Steve were such troopers as we strolled through the park, which often acts like a giant wind tunnel. Unfortunately the cold weather wasn’t so fun for their two-year old twin girls who had joined us for the session, with the hopes of getting in on the photo action of course. They did seem to have fun playing in the snow at first, but the winter temperatures quickly became too much for them and Grandma graciously took them to the warmth and comfort of home (of course, we did get a few candids of the girls before they headed home).
It actually ended up working out quite well as it gave Jenn + Steve the chance to head over to the greenhouses at the Experimental Farm. Mother Nature then rewarded us for putting up with her weird weather patterns by giving us a gorgeous golden hour complete with a blue and purple sky and all the glowy light I could ask for!!
I had such a wonderful time strolling through the park and chatting up a storm with these two. And of course getting to meet their adorable girls was an extra special treat, even if they weren’t huge fans of me on this day. Fingers crossed that we have better luck on Jenn + Steve’s wedding day in the New Year. I am already planning an updated game plan and whole new set of tricks for to get those girls in more photos, plus I’ll have Dave and kids loooove Dave!
