The last couple months have been absolutely stuffed with engagement and portrait sessions – and if I am being completely honest, they have been some of my absolute favourites ever!! And this isn’t even because I have gotten to stroll around some of the best locations in Ottawa, or because I am truly loving the images I have been creating, but instead it is because of the amazing people I have gotten to work with. Like Sabrina + Colin, who I feel I could have walked and chatted with for ages!!
I tend to go off on tangents during my engagement sessions and end up chatting about the weirdest and most off topic things. I like to think that these random chats help people feel a little more comfortable during their session and they almost always wind up finding some kind of common ground with my clients. Although is I am being honest, I have to think these things, because talking a lot is just who I am and there’s really no changing it. But if nothing else, I get to chat about awesome things that Dave isn’t really into. And in the case of Sabrina + Colin’s session that topic was RuPaul’s Drag Race!! Which, if you have never seen it, is such a great show. Yes, it’s reality TV and is full of drama and hilarity, which isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but it is also chock full of amazingly talented people! And even though I have little to no skills in the art of hair and make-up, I still know that the skills these artists have is unbelievable!!
So, suffice to say, I had a great time walking around the Arboretum with these two incredibly sweet people. They were up for pretty much anything I threw their way, and of course, did a wonderful job with it all. And as an extra special bonus for me, they brought along their pup Stanley, who also did a great job. He was full of energy and just wanted to explore this new place, but he did manage to sit long enough for me to be able to grab his photos and his grand-paw-rents were lovely enough to join us to be able to take care of him for the rest of the session.
