I often get asked by our couples if I just go around town looking for interesting locations – and the answer is yes, yes I do. And the result is a spreadsheet full of location ideas so I can suggest a spot that fits the personalities of our couples. So when I chatted with Krysten + Jon about their engagement session, I had a pretty good feeling that Beaver Pond Trail would be a great place for theirs!

There are a lot of factors that go into making an engagement session really great. The environment we are working in and the weather on the day are ones that jump quickly to my mind, and the light is pretty crucial of course, but the most important factor is the people. You could have the greatest location in the world, but if you fill it with the wrong couple, then the session goes downhill fast. Alternatively, you could have a so-so location, but if you get to work with great people, then the session can still be absolutely lovely! Luckily for me, I get to work with some of the very, very best people as part of my job. People like Krysten + Jon.

This time last year we were getting ready for our last wedding of the 2014 season. And while I recover from yesterday wedding (which happens to be the last one for us for the 2015 season), I wanted to take a look back at the absolutely wonderful wedding of Hayley + Jon.
Hayley + Jon’s wedding was definitely one of the highlights of the 2014 wedding season, but not because of the amazing DIY details throughout the entire day, not because of the gorgeous weather we had or the beautiful fall colours, not even because of the delicious meal or the cookie table with so many delicious treats. I grew up in a small town where everyone pretty much knew each other. It wasn’t so small that you knew every intimate detail of everyone’s life, but you knew their names and usually where they lived, who their parents and siblings were, etc. I moved to Ottawa for after high school and have been here ever since. I have very fond memories of growing up in my small town and even fonder memories of most of the people I grew up with. So it is an extra special treat when I get to capture the wedding day of one of those people I grew up with.
