Ottawa First Year Milestone + Cake Smash Session: Elliott

Ottawa-Studio-First-Year-Cake-Smash-Session-Stephanie-Beach-PhotographyCake smash sessions really are just so much freaking fun! And they only get better when you get to catch up with previous clients and their adorable little ones!

When I first met Elliott and his Mom + Dad’s wedding, he was super serious. There was so much going on around him and so many people that smiles took a lot of work to get. Cue Dave dancing around behind me during family photos in an attempt to make him smile, which resulted in the adults laughing hysterically, but Elliott wasn’t entertained enough for a smile – although he did look at the camera so I still take it as a win.

Stylized Wedding Session: St.Catherine’s at Bell Gable, Fayetteville, Arkansas

St-Catherines-at-Bell-Gable-Fayetteville-Wedding-Stephanie-Beach-PhotographyThis styled shoot was literally everything I had dreamed of and so much more! Adding an extra day to my Arkansas trip was a million per cent worth it because I got to work with some extremely talented people and cross off something from my photography bucket list (doing a styled session while traveling). And to think it all started off with me leaving my comfort zone for a few hours one day back in January.

Ottawa Cake Smash Session: Layla

Ottawa-Cake-Smash-Session-Stephanie-Beach-PhotographyThis family really is one of our absolute favourites and I absolutely love getting to catch up with them so often. Whether it be to capture the wedding day of one of their family members, or to get some great family photos of themselves, it really is always such a lovely time.

But really, anytime day with this ridiculously cute little girl is obviously going to be a great one!

Celebrating 60 Years

My Dad’s birthday was a few weeks ago, and this year he turned the big 6-0.

Montreal Canadiens Birthday Cake

We were initially thinking of throwing Dad a big bash for his 60th birthday, but we were quickly told that he didn’t want anything large. So instead, we planned a simple, surprise dinner with our immediate family. We drove down from Ottawa and met my brother and his family and then drove to our Parents’ house. We ordered Chinese takeout and afterwards ate some delicious cake. And of course, Jackson helped Grampa blow out his candles. We then had to relight them multiples time so he could blow them out again and again.Montreal Canadiens Birthday Cake Ottawa Child Photography - Toddler Montreal Canadiens Birthday Cake Ottawa Child Photography - Toddler Montreal Canadiens Birthday Cake Ottawa Child Photography - Toddler

I spent most of the afternoon making and decorating the cake to have the Habs symbol on it as it is Dad’s favourite team. In fact, normally we take a photo of Dad (or Grampa) and Jackson in their matching Habs Jerseys, but Jackson has outgrown all of the ones he has, I guess we will need to invest in some larger ones for him.
Most of the evening we sat around and chatted, while Jackson ran around chasing the dog and just generally acting like a two year old. It was a fantastic family dinner!!
