I cannot even begin to properly explain just how perfect Diana + John’s wedding day was as the start of our 2018 season. From being at one of our favourite venues to all the beautiful and personal details so perfectly infused throughout everything, it was truly lovely. But as usual, what that made this wedding day so great weren’t the actual things, but rather the people. Not only are Diana + John so incredibly nice (and funny to boot), but they are absolutely one of the sweetest couples we have had the pleasure and honour of working with over the years and they surrounded themselves with family and friends who are equally as wonderful!

Whenever Dave and I have to write something sentimental as a couple it always goes the same way: I write down some general ideas in jot note form and then Dave improves on it. I get down the main points I think we should get across and any critical details that have to be included. I normally take a pass at writing a few sentences, maybe even an entire paragraph, but once that is done Dave takes all of my thoughts, adds his own and then turns it into an actual written (or spoken) piece and it ends up being beautiful. There are normally some changes on my end, particularly if it is supposed to sound like me and not him, but he is definitely the one that makes it actually sound great. You see, although I can write pretty well (or at least well enough), Dave can write beautifully from the heart. He has a way with that sort of thing whereas I can sometimes struggle with getting my point across.
If you have been fortunate enough to attend a wedding at Strathmere then you probably already know that it actually houses 3 separate venues: The Inn, The Garden House and the Lodge. They all have their own unique features and each tend to attract its own type of couple, but for the longest time we had only ever shot weddings at The Inn and the Lodge and that middle site was rather elusive to us as we just didn’t get any inquiries for it (let alone bookings). And as much as I like the Inn and Lodge, I was eager to have the full set, so to speak.
With only a small handful of weddings left this year, Dave and I are officially heading towards the end of our 2017 season. And as always I am both looking forward to the break for a little while (and the chance to catch up on some admin tasks during the off-season), and sad that we won’t be capturing wedding days most weekends (at least not for a couple months). But all of that is for a later date, as we still have a few couples left this month and boy-oh-boy are they ever great couples with absolutely stunning wedding days planned!!
