Stonefields Estate Wedding: Tara + Dion

It had been almost exactly six months since Dave and I captured a full wedding day. I have been lucky enough to photograph a few elopements here and there, but nothing that lasted more than a couple hours. So when we headed over to the gorgeous Stonefields Estate for Tara + Dion’s wedding we knew our bodies were about to take a beating. But every aching, sore muscle was a million per cent worth it because not only was this day stunning, but Tara + Dion made sure to fill it with so much love and awesomeness that I almost didn’t notice my tired feet, almost.

Brookstreet Hotel Wedding: Jessica + Steve

Brookstreet-Hotel-Wedding-Ottawa-Stephanie-Beach-PhotographyThe wonderful Master of Ceremonies for Jessica + Steve’s wedding reception kicked off the festivities by letting everyone know that the Captain had put on the fasten seat belt sign and then proceeded to outline where everyone could find the emergency exits. In fact, there were more than a few flight jokes throughout their entire wedding day, but really that should have been expected considering that both the bride and groom (and several other guests) work for (and met at) Porter Airlines. And luckily, despite the shenanigans and general fun-nature of the entire wedding party, Steve only used his pilot voice for fun and didn’t have to whip it out to get anyone back in line throughout the day.

Temple’s Sugar Bush Wedding: Christine + John

Temple's-Sugar-Bush-Ottawa-Wedding-Stephanie-Beach-Photography“It is a love based of giving and receiving as well as having and sharing. And the love that they give and have is shared and received. And through this having and giving and sharing and receiving, we too can share and love and have…and receive.”

Dave and I have been waiting so long for someone to quote Joey Tribbiani as part of their wedding day speech and Maid of Honour Kaitlin finally made our day!! Not only did Christine + John’s wedding day have some classic speeches, but these wonderfully sweet people were an absolutely joy to work with again. And despite the heat and humidity, everyone had such a great time all day long!

Strathmere Lodge Wedding: Kristen + Chris

Strathmere-Lodge-Wedding-Stephanie-Beach-Photography-reception-decor-centrepieceWhenever Dave and I have to write something sentimental as a couple it always goes the same way: I write down some general ideas in jot note form and then Dave improves on it. I get down the main points I think we should get across and any critical details that have to be included. I normally take a pass at writing a few sentences, maybe even an entire paragraph, but once that is done Dave takes all of my thoughts, adds his own and then turns it into an actual written (or spoken) piece and it ends up being beautiful. There are normally some changes on my end, particularly if it is supposed to sound like me and not him, but he is definitely the one that makes it actually sound great. You see, although I can write pretty well (or at least well enough), Dave can write beautifully from the heart. He has a way with that sort of thing whereas I can sometimes struggle with getting my point across.

I mention this because at multiple points during Kristen + Chris’ wedding day I was reminded of Dave’s heart-spoken nature as Chris had the same abilities. When he spoke about his family and of course his new bride, every word was said with intention and his words were so incredibly meaningful and completely heartwarming.

Strathmere Lodge Wedding: Kristen + Chris, Sneak Peek

Strathmere-Lodge-Wedding-Stephanie-Beach-Photography-bridal-prep-invitationWith only a small handful of weddings left this year, Dave and I are officially heading towards the end of our 2017 season. And as always I am both looking forward to the break for a little while (and the chance to catch up on some admin tasks during the off-season), and sad that we won’t be capturing wedding days most weekends (at least not for a couple months). But all of that is for a later date, as we still have a few couples left this month and boy-oh-boy are they ever great couples with absolutely stunning wedding days planned!!
