Ottawa Wedding + Newborn Photographers who know what's it like to be awkward in front of the camera
Last weekend was my birthday and I want to start off by thanking everyone for all the lovely birthday cards, emails, phone calls, Facebook message and posts. I also got a great response from my 29 + 1 Birthday Collage. I am so glad everyone likes reading those posts because I enjoy making them. I have gotten asked a lot what we got up to on my Birthday, so I decided to make a follow-up post outlining my fantastic day.
Today is my (29+1)th birthday.
I am no longer in my twenties and this makes me feel old.
When Jackson was a baby he stared at my camera, it was great for taking photos of him. When he got older, he liked the sound it made. Then, in an effort to keep his little paws off my lens, I taught him how to press the shutter buttons (and better yet, taught him that he only gets to press those buttons). Without ever showing him where to look, or even showing him the back of the camera, Jackson did this earlier this year.
One year has passed since the day I married my best friend and love of my life.
I have said it before, and I am certain I will say it again and again: I am not very good with words, but this year has been one of the best of my life and I owe it all to him.

Dave and I took the above shots the day after our wedding day before we returned his suit, I ruined my nails and the flowers wilted. We were pretty rushed to shoot them (even more rushed than on most of the wedding days I shoot), but I am glad we took them anyway, mostly because it gave me an excuse to walk around the house in my dress. I love that dress — maybe I will go put it on 🙂
Today is my hubby’s birthday!
He is an amazing man who I love with all my heart and soul. I know it is cliche, but I honestly don’t know where I would be without him.

The area is great and the weather was absolutely gorgeous!! And I couldn’t resist taking a few shots of Dave when he climbed up into the tree with his ‘Dutch shirt’ on.
I wrote this post earlier this month and scheduled it for today as we are actually on our cruise to Alaska right now. I entered his birthday as a special event in our cruise timeline. I am not entirely sure what that means, or if we get anything from the cruise line because of it, but I am hoping they do something nice for him because he certainly deserves it.
