I have mentioned before that I grew up in a small town. It was the sort of place where most everyone knew each other. You may not have known their life story, but you knew their face and name. And right next to this small town was a small city (well actually there was a tiny village or two between, but you get the point). The two went hand-in-hand in my opinion since if you lived in the small town, you likely worked in the small city and definitely needed the larger stores, etc. that were there.
I mention this all because so often I meet people from back home (or the nearby city) and we reminisce about the ‘good ol’ days. If I didn’t know them or their sibling, then I knew someone they knew. And this was the case with Heather + Jules…twice over actually. Heather’s mom was one of my and my brother’s grade school teachers. The lovely couple is also very close friends with a childhood friend of my brother and I (his mom’s handcrafted furniture is all over my house to this day). With all those small town/city and friendly connections, I knew this wedding was going to be a great one!!
Jules is actually from across the pond, and the two like to travel. So with that in mind, they had a travel theme to their day. The reception was decorated with adorable paper airplanes, suitcases and little British and Canadian flags here and there. Their wedding favours were custom luggage tags, their signing ‘book’ a globe, and maps decorated other areas of the hall. They had even made some custom props to add to our batch in the photobooth. But above any of that, there was Heather and Jules.
Their love and admiration for each other was so clear and so joyous to be witness to. Everyone who spoke during their wedding made mention to how much they care for one another and how happy they make each other. It was incredibly uplifting and such an amazing honour to be able to document the start of their married lives together.
(Plus, any couple that brings their adorable puppy to their wedding day portraits is a-okay in my books!!)
Thank you both so much for letting us be a part of your big day!!
Keep an eye out for a later post with some of the hilarious images from Heather + Jules’ photobooth!!
