You may think that after covering the Make-A-Wish Wine for Wishes event for so many years in a row that it would get a little redundant and boring for us, but boy-oh-boy would you ever be wrong! Wine for Wishes may have the same idea each year in that it serves scrumptious food, wine and beer from all sorts of local vineyards, breweries and restaurants, but each year offers us something new to cover (plus the idea of food and beverages is pretty foolproof, right?!).
This year, they had two new fundraising events in which guests could participate. Our favourite was the cork pull where guests could buy a cork from the lovely Make-A-Wish volunteers and at the end of the night they would receive a surprise bottle of wine (and I am told there were some pretty good bottles in there). There was also a diamond draw where you could select diamonds (okay, so they weren’t real diamonds) and be entered into a draw to win some fabulous prizes from some of the sponsors.
But more than anything else, this event is kept interesting for us through the guests who come out to partake in the festivities. There are always new faces, but as I mentioned in the sneak peek, there appear to be more than a few regulars who come out each and every year to support this wonderful charity and all the truly amazing work they do in our community.
This event really would be nothing without the hard work of the Make-A-Wish team and volunteers and, of course, all of the fantastic vendors and sponsors. Definitely check out the event page here to see the list of all the companies who helped make this year’s event possible.
