I love it when I get to collaborate on session location ideas with couples. It tends to start with an idea or request they have and then grow from there into something that fits them as a couple, and will look great when captured on camera.
For Sarah-Anne + Corey’s engagement session, she sparked the idea for their locations by mentioning that they have taken their cat to a park nearby their house and he seemed to enjoy it (or perhaps tolerate would be a better word here). That of course lead to me suggesting it as a starting point, and of course that lead to their handsome feline companion joining them for the start of their session (yay!).
From there we eventually headed further downtown but instead of going via Sparks as I normally would, they suggested venturing straight down Wellington Street. And that turned out to be fantastic as we headed to a not so common place for engagement photos: Supreme Court.
But come to think of it, I don’t know why I haven’t shot here before. It is a wonderful building architecturally speaking, and the garden area in front of it is also really nice. And then to make it even better, there is a great fountain in the back overlooking a wonderful view of the river, Parliament and Gatineau. And as an added bonus, there are almost no tourists running about (something that really can’t be said about the Hill).
All of that being said, you will have to wait a little longer for the images we created around the court, as I just couldn’t resist the ones we captured at the Garden of Provinces and Territories where we started our session.
And yes, I realize I taunted you all by mentioning another engagement session that included a cat and then proceeded to not include any of his photos in the sneak peek, but keep an eye out for the full preview in the coming weeks and maybe even an extra special sneak peek on social media in the next few days!
