I have this list of location ideas. It has some classics, some spots I absolutely adore, and some hidden gems I have found. It also includes a bunch of locations that I really want to shoot at – Watson’s Mill has been on that list for a while now. I have offered it to a few couples, but apparently it hasn’t quite resonated with anyone. That is until Shannon + Erin came on the scene. In fact, I didn’t even have to suggest it to them as it was their preferred location from the get-go, and I couldn’t have been happier!
It really is a gorgeous location that offers a fair bit of variety in terms of settings. You have a historic home, the mill itself, waterfront, a little park and all sorts of bridge-y goodness. I love it! What what was even better was getting to capture Shannon + Erin amongst all that greatness as they were absolute pros throughout their entire session!
And not only did they nail their photos, but they were such a pleasure to hangout and chat with throughout it all – even putting up with my endless rambling (I have not only the nicest couples to work with, but apparently also the most polite).
But as much as I loved Watson’s Mill, I think my favourite photos were the last of the evening. Erin is a linesman and Shannon had a very specific idea for a photo in mind, so after some Google location scouting, I found a spot that I thought would work, and Shannon + Erin made it wonderful!
Little extra side note – this session was just days before the tornado hit here in the Ottawa-Gatineau area and I am sure Erin was super busy alongside all of the other amazing people who helped get the city back on its feet, and I am so grateful for all the hard work and certainly long hours involved in getting things up and running so quickly (especially considering how bad some of the damage was).
