Whenever Dave and I have to write something sentimental as a couple it always goes the same way: I write down some general ideas in jot note form and then Dave improves on it. I get down the main points I think we should get across and any critical details that have to be included. I normally take a pass at writing a few sentences, maybe even an entire paragraph, but once that is done Dave takes all of my thoughts, adds his own and then turns it into an actual written (or spoken) piece and it ends up being beautiful. There are normally some changes on my end, particularly if it is supposed to sound like me and not him, but he is definitely the one that makes it actually sound great. You see, although I can write pretty well (or at least well enough), Dave can write beautifully from the heart. He has a way with that sort of thing whereas I can sometimes struggle with getting my point across.
I mention this because at multiple points during Kristen + Chris’ wedding day I was reminded of Dave’s heart-spoken nature as Chris had the same abilities. When he spoke about his family and of course his new bride, every word was said with intention and his words were so incredibly meaningful and completely heartwarming.
