There were just so many reasons as to why I was looking so forward to Chantal + Mathieu’s wedding day. The fact that it was a Fall wedding was definitely a good reason to look forward to this one (I love Fall weddings so much!) and of course, because they had opted for a first look which are always so special and touching. I was excited for the overall aesthetic they had planned for their day, and super pumped about getting to work in a brand new venue!! But really, after spending the day with them during their engagement session (and chatting with them during our meetings), I was really just looking forward to getting to hang out with them again since they are both just so awesome!

Whenever Dave and I have to write something sentimental as a couple it always goes the same way: I write down some general ideas in jot note form and then Dave improves on it. I get down the main points I think we should get across and any critical details that have to be included. I normally take a pass at writing a few sentences, maybe even an entire paragraph, but once that is done Dave takes all of my thoughts, adds his own and then turns it into an actual written (or spoken) piece and it ends up being beautiful. There are normally some changes on my end, particularly if it is supposed to sound like me and not him, but he is definitely the one that makes it actually sound great. You see, although I can write pretty well (or at least well enough), Dave can write beautifully from the heart. He has a way with that sort of thing whereas I can sometimes struggle with getting my point across.
We are so lucky to photograph so many beautiful wedding days. In fact, there are so many lovely days that picking highlights from our season can be tricky, but I just know that images from Krystal +Luke’s day will be included in my favourites for 2017!!
I have heard so many photographers say (and I believe I have said it myself as well), you really have to choose the last wedding of the year carefully. The couple has to be just right and the wedding they are planning has to be just a little extra exciting. All of this is needed because after so many extra long days squeezing those creative muscles, you can sometimes feel pretty wiped by the end of the season. So that final couple of the year needs to be fantastic enough to give you that extra bit of energy and excitement. And what can I say other than, I don’t think there was a better couple to end the 2017 season with other than Alyssa + David!
