Event Photography, Ottawa Conference & Event Centre: Make-A-Wish, 10th Annual 3 Wishes Gala

If there is one thing I have learned while covering weddings and events, it is that events like these don’t just plan themselves. There is a lot of time, thought and energy behind that one gorgeous day or night and when it comes to a charity event, it definitely takes an extra special breed of person to be able to pull it off.

That is just one reason why we love working with Make-A-Wish Eastern Ontario, they have so much passion in what they do, and they are so good at it, that each of their events is so magical and a real joy to be a part of. Of course, the main reason we love working with them is the children. It is an honour to be able to capture the wishes of these truly amazing kids and though sometimes it can be a bit tough on the heart, there is far better good in these events than anything else. Especially one as magical as the 3 Wishes Gala.

The event this year really was such a fantastic evening. The conference centre was gorgeous, the food was so scrumptious, our MCs for the evening were absolutely wonderful and of course, everyone was looking so good dressed up for the event. To make thing even better, everyone who came was incredibly generous when it came to the live auction later in the evening, and the charity Build-A-Bear bears that were available for purchase.

But for me, and I think everyone involved in the evening, the best parts were when the wishes were given to the children. As the name of the Gala implies, there were three wishes given out during the evening. The first was to a trip to Hawaii, presented by the means of a great troop of dancers. This one was really special as they Skyped in his sister to be able to be part of the event. The second was a trip to Disney for a little girl and her family (I love Disney) presented by her wish sponsors who also happened to give her an amazing day on their horse farm earlier in the year. And the third was a trip on a Disney Star Wars Cruise presented by none other than Star Wars characters themselves (including Darth and Chewie of course). They were all so amazing and it was so touching to be able to watch not only the kids react to their wishes being granted, but their parents too. I definitely teared up when each wish was granted!!
