The start of a wedding day is one of my favourite times. When I show up to start bridal prep coverage I walk into a house full of excitement and anticipation. And then I get to play around with all the pretties! Bridesmaids dresses, rings, flowers, paper goods and of course, the bridal gown. Putting these things together is really fun for me, and Lisa definitely made it easy too.
After the greetings of the ladies (and gents) I had met before, and introductions to those I hadn’t, I was handed a gorgeous display of bridesmaids’ jewelry and given a basket full of so many awesome goodies. But I must admit, the best thing was that the bride had already hung the dress exactly where I had been thinking of for the past hour as we drove down to Brockville. It was absolutely heaven as I captured all the details of their prep.
Dave also got a great start to his day as he was greeted with puppies (okay, they were full grown dogs, but I call all dogs puppies), video games and beer. And really, what groom prep could be better?
It was definitely a great start to an even better day. And although it was cold (it is February afterall) and a little snowstorm swept through the area that morning (after a week of very mild temperatures), the day was pretty much perfect and absolutely stunning!
I have two favourite highlights from Lisa + Joe’s day that I wanted to share here (hopefully they don’t mind). The first was when Joe slightly messed up his line during their weddings vows, saying I do instead of I will. It is a favourite because Lisa repeated it during hers, and the guests did the same when they were asked to give their blessing to the couple (We Do, We Will). It was very cute. But not as adorable as my next favourite moment, when Lisa + Joe had Joe’s grandparents sign their registry with them. Bill + Iris have been married for 62 years and have been such a great example of a happy marriage for the entire family, that it just made sense. And I must admit that even though I don’t tear up at weddings very often, the mention of his grandparents signing their registry, definitely brought a happy tear to my eye.
