I have seen these photos all over the internet many time before. Sweet little RCMP babies in their parent’s hat, looking oh so very adorable, and very Canadian. And of course it was a setup I very much wanted to try, but let’s be honest, it’s a pretty particular situation. I mean, it’s not exactly like you can just do this one for just any family. But then comes the reminder that I live in Ottawa and have actually had a few Mountie weddings in the past. So long story short, when Brittany asked if it was something we could include in Kinsley’s newborn session, I was over the moon!!
Brittany + Mike opted not to wear the RCMP uniform on their wedding day (which was likely a very smart idea because that puppy is heavy and probably would have been ridiculously hot for poor Mike), but they did very much wanted a few newborn photos of their sweet baby girl using Dad’s classic dress uniform. Yay!!
And Kinsley was so cooperative!! She was a champ for getting through it all, especially when you realize that the inside of those hats are actually pretty small. And Mike did a fabulous job holding her so still while I fiddled with her pose (and don’t worry, Brittany was close by in case Kinsley decided to make a break for it).
But even without being able to check off this classic Canadian newborn photo this session would have been so wonderful! Brittany + Mike are two of the nicest people and I always have such a lovely time with them. And since we have gotten to capture both their engagement and wedding photos before, getting to be a part of their next step as parents is super duper special. And I mean, come on folks, Baby Kinsley is just the cutest and absolutely nailed every second in front of the camera!!
