I’m always a little nervous when it comes to younger siblings’ sessions. Not because they are any different than firstborn newborn sessions, but because sometimes babies are worn out by the time we get through family and sibling photos and their solo photos don’t go as smoothly because of this. All of that said, Damien’s session was absolute perfection!
Baby Damien was pretty alert when we started his photos but he was super chill so we were able to go ahead with family photos which means we got lots of photos with his adorable eyes open. And since his older brothers aren’t super young, we were able to do just a half wrap for their sibling photos which means Damien was much happier to be unwrapped when we were ready for his solo photos.
I have also realized that there are a whole new set of advantages to my clients since having Charlotte. Not only do I understand babies and toddlers a little better (keyword being little, haha!), but clients are welcome to use Charlotte’s room for diaper changes and for older kids to play in after their portion of the photos are done. And that latter part is exactly what big brothers Elliott and Frederick did. I brought up a few toys for them and of course they had their tablets and those big bros were so incredibly patient. They did run to the door when they found out the session was done and had their boots and coats on before we all got down there, but they were still so polite and patient, it was extremely impressive!
I honestly loved getting to catch up with this wonderful family. I first got to work with Émilie and Maxime on their wedding day and am honoured to have been capturing their family milestones ever since. They are truly some of the kindest people out there and, as a bonus, they happen make some pretty adorable boys!!
