The drive out to their new home was definitely a long one, in fact, it was the longest I have driven for a newborn session (to date at least), but it gave me a lot of time to think. And although I spent an equal sized portion of the drive singing along to some great songs, I also ended up reminiscing about all the wonderful sessions I have been lucky enough to capture for Chantal + Mathieu. During their engagement session and then their wedding I quickly learned just how amazingly kind these two people are. And getting to meet the new tiny person they created was definitely a highlight of my Fall season!
Mila was absolutely precious and I pretty much fell head over heels for this little bundle of joy the second I saw her. And things really only got cuter from there as Chantal + Mat had some really adorable little diaper covers, booties and hand-knitted toys, booties and hats for her!! And talk about natural parents! Normally when I ask parents to swap their little one into a new position it takes a minute for them to figure out how to move them. It’s completely normal really, this tiny human is not only precious, but super squirmy too. But Mat is a doctor himself and works with newborns all the time, so flipping this little one from one spot to another seemed completely effortless!
And talk about a stunning home for this session! I loved the natural elements and gorgeous surroundings. The area was so pretty that there was more than one stop on the drive home to grab a few scenic shots for my own photo collection (you know, the collection that rarely, if ever, gets edited and published/printed anywhere).
Being invited into our clients homes to capture all of these amazing moments and milestones in their family’s life is something I am so fortunate to do. It is definitely not sometime I take lightly and I am oh so honoured to get to do for each and everyone of them – especially for such truly wonderful people as Chantal, Mat + little Mila.
