Mariah + Benjamin’s day was pretty much a perfect day! From their stunning backyard ceremony to the incredibly heartwarming (and tear-jerking) moments during their reception, I honestly can’t think of a single thing that could possibly need changing, and that takes into consideration the fact that the bride took a wee tumble down a hill during family portraits (luckily she was neither hurt nor was her dress dirtied).
I stepped out of my car and was instantly brought into an absolutely stunning backyard wedding ceremony. There were so many wonderful details that everyone had put together and I was in detail heaven capturing them all for this wonderful couple. But of course my favourite moment of the pre-ceremony events was the daughter-son first look. Mariah had asked about this just a few days before the big day and I was completely in love with the idea as soon as she mentioned it. Her little boy, Bennett, did such a great job waiting patiently for his mom to come out. And then he was the absolute picture of adorableness when he literally ran into his mom’s arms!
Can I just quickly mention how freaking amazing Mariah + Ben were in from of the camera?! Seriously, they were complete naturals together with that perfect combo of soft, romantic photos and fun, playful ones. In fact, their entire wedding party was utter perfection! They did so well even with some quick shots running out into the street (as safely as that can be done of course) for some shots. Ben had a few ideas, including that street shot, that he really wanted and I think my favourite was the quintessential threshold shot. We popped by the couple’s home on the way into Almonte’s Barley Mow area and Ben masterfully carried Mariah into their home. I don’t think it would be difficult any other day for him to do this, but that dress was quite voluminous!
The day was filled with lots of little drives between locations and the final one was over to Almonte Agricultural Hall for their reception. As I mentioned before, this was filled with some real tear-jerking moments like when the men in Mariah’s life all took turns dancing with her during her Father-Daughter dance. I must admit that this one really got to me and I definitely had to wipe away a few tears from behind the camera. But those emotional bits were balanced with loads of hilarious speeches and all-around fun times!
It was really a fantastic day and I had so much fun capturing all of the great moments from Mariah + Benjamin’s wedding day. It was such a joy to be a part of it all and to capture it for everyone to enjoy over and over again!
