Little Ella showed up for her session a little sleepy, but somehow it still only took about 2 minutes before she was showing off those beautiful smile and her amazing walking skills! The latter of course meant that both myself and her parents spent that majority of the session catching her and putting her back in front of the background, but hey, that’s what cake smash sessions are all about!
I first met Ella and her parents Stacy and Craig at Stacy’s brother’s wedding earlier in the year. I was completed enamored by this darling little girl during the wedding and I was over the moon when Stacy reached out about her first year portraits and cake smash session. But, as evidence of how much little ones grow in even short periods of time, when Ella arrived in the studio, her newfound skills and one-year old face had me questioning if I was remembering the right baby. It had only been a 2 and a half months and she had still grown so much! Plus she was smiling ear to ear rather than being super serious and crying as she was on the wedding day.
But there definitely weren’t any tears during this session (for which I was very thankful!) as Ella seemed to absolutely loved her time in front of the camera. And in particular she loved the balloons we had set out for her, so much so that we had to hide them behind the background for the first portion of the session so we could get a few photos without them, haha! This is actually why I’m not a fan of balloons at studio sessions if there isn’t a place to hide them, but luckily, Ella didn’t mind waiting for them to come back out, although she did go looking for them once or twice as she was certainly clever enough to know where we put them. She also turned out to be a huge fan of my little lion puppet and would pretty much instantly look over if there were meowing noises, it was so darn cute.
I am so glad Stacy + Craig brough their darling little girl into the studio for her portrait session as I had just the best morning hanging out with them all and getting to capture such a little cutie with my camera!
