O M freaking G, guys, this session was seriously amazing! Truth be told, I wasn’t in the greatest mood when I left my house for Erica + Matt’s session. All I really wanted to do was stay home and watch one of my favourite TV shows while I sifted through my most recent edits. Nothing was really wrong, it was just one of those days that I thought I would rather be on my own. But yeah, I was very wrong as not only was this location stunning (and just got better the further we got along the trail), but these two were just the bestest ever to hang out with!
So, let’s start with the location. I live not too far from Pinhey Trail so I have been there many a time, but apparently there are two halves of this area and I have only been to one of those. So I am extra thankful that Erica + Matt pinged the location on Google Maps for me when they suggested it as I definitely would have thought they meant my regular part, not this other one. And boy-oh-boy would I have ever been sad if we hadn’t come here!
As usual, I showed up early and took a little walk down the path to see if there were any places I really wanted to include in the session. I quickly came across many and was very happy so I walked back to meet up with Erica + Matt. They walk this part of the trail frequently and knew of a few more they really loved, which is always awesome! We got to those and kept going and found this little area that seriously felt like pixies and elves would soon be joining us. Maybe it’s just the fantasy D&D nerd in me, but it really felt magical and truly special! That mixed with all the gorgeous fall colours, and I was in photographer heaven!
But then of course, it was made all the better by the addition of Erica + Matt. Walking around the woods with them really was the perfect way to spend my afternoon, even if I hadn’t wanted to leave my house in the first place. As soon as they arrived my spirits were lifted as they really as two genuinely sweet, caring people. Plus, they are dogs lovers like me and were just as distracted by the many, many fluffy walkers around the forest and also talked to them like I did, so yeah, kindred spirits.
I am just so exited to not only share these photos with them ,but also to get to capture their wedding day next year! If it is even half as great as their engagement session, it s going to be wonderful!
