As I talked about in yesterday’s post where we recapped a bit about our 2020 weddings, and really as everyone already knows because it was like this for the entire world, 2020 was a very different year for the business. And that difference included the blog. As a direct result of there being fewer weddings and family session, there were less blog posts. Ottawa Lifestyle Newborn Session: Emryk
When I photographed Little Callie’s newborn session a couple years ago, I captured some of my favourite family photos of the time. And now that I was lucky enough to go back for her little baby brother Emryk’s session, the same is equally true! When it comes to big brothers and sisters, I have so far found that it is about 50/50 as to whether or not they are interested in their new baby’s newborn session. And for those that aren’t into the shoot, it is another 50/50 as to whether or not they are happy about the whole thing. For Baby Dominic’s in-home session, Big Sister Caroline was on the not so great side of both of those odds as she wasn’t really interested in the session and also not happy about someone being around the family.

Dave and I went coat shopping on Sunday. We originally headed out to get a coat for him, but ended up both getting new winter gear. This turned out to be a very, very good thing as the next morning I had an extremely cold session in the blustering wind. But, I mean, I got to wear my big heavy coat, warm toque and just loads of layers, so I was pretty good. Chantal + Mathieu, and their adorable little girl Mila, on the other hand, had to bear the cold with far less protection and they were such champs about the whole thing!!

The drive out to White Lake was seriously gorgeous! The majority of the leaves may have fallen off the trees already, but the area is absolutely stunning year round! And you know what was somehow even better than driving through the countryside on a Sunday afternoon? Getting to work with this amazing family again. And this time around there were even more of them as this was no ordinary family session, but instead an extended session for both sides of Mariah + Ben’s family.
