Since leaving my office job and turning my photography business into my sole profession I have prefaced all face-to-face conversations with the fact that I don’t see or talk to many people throughout the workweek. Whether it’s a client consult or a session, the lack of human interaction throughout the day leads me to be a wee bit rambly when I finally meet up with actual people. And of course, that has only gotten amplified since covid came to be. But lucky for me I get to work with some truly delightful, and apparently patient, people because even after all my rambling throughout their session and seemingly never-ending stories as we chatted in the parking lot afterwards, Alexandra + Ryan stuck it out.

Monk Environmental Park Engagement Session: Nadine + Kevin
Some couples we just click with. When we meet I instantly know that I am the photographer for them and they are the couple for me. We could talk endlessly about all the very best (and nerdiest) of things and have a wonderful time doing so. Nadine + Kevin are definitely one of those couples!

Ottawa Fall Engagement Session: Chantal + Brendan
When Chantal + Brendan asked if they could alter their engagement session for a part engagement part family session I of course said yes. We have done a few of these over the years and it is a great way to let your entire family be part of your engagement and just the photo session in general. But upon meeting Tessa and their pup Maya, I am so, so glad they wanted them to be included because not only is Maya such a good doggo, but Tessa is without a doubt the coolest ten year old I have ever met!

Ottawa Arboretum Engagement Session: Rowan + Andrew
The weather this Fall has been really weird. At first it seemed like Summer just wouldn’t leave and then it was gone in an instant leaving everyone oh so cold, only to return for a day or so here and there. It was really hard to gauge when the Fall leaves would look their best and to figure out dates for our couples who wanted their engagement sessions under all those gorgeous colours.
But, in the end, everything worked out and Rowan + Andrew ended up with a truly stunning background for their engagement session at the Arboretum as the leaves were absolutely perfect and the temperature wasn’t that bad either.

Jack Pine Trail Engagement Session: Christine + John
I have a particular fondness for the NCC Greenbelt trails (I specifically love the ones that surround the Stony Swamp area). Not only are they beautiful, but also because they remind me of several trails and forest areas that I frequented when I was growing up back home.
I found myself on these trails so often that for a long time, I had a bag of bird seed in my car at all times, and now my camera bag is often home to a small pack of it (so much so that there is almost always a few loose seeds at the bottom of my bag).
Sadly, I don’t find myself out on the trails as often as I used to, but since that time is taken up by clients and their sessions, I am definitely not complaining. But I do love when my work gets to overlap with my time spent on the greenbelt trails, so when Christine + John mentioned that they were interested in the Jack Pine Trail for their session, I was very happy.
