So as all of your friends and family have probably notified you through social media, it’s snowing again – and not just a little either. Despite the fact that the snow was almost gone from most yards and the temperature was quite delightful outside recently, the chilly wind and snow are back.

I love winter engagement sessions! And, if I’m being honest, I think winter may be my favourite season to shoot engagement sessions. Don’t get me wrong, I love engagement sessions any time of the year, but there is just something magical about an engaged couple in love amidst a snow covered landscape. Bundled up in a big scarf and wrapped up in each other’s arms – it doesn’t get much better than that really. I think the proof is in the pudding really, I mean just look at what Dana + Matt pulled off during their session at Gatineau Park.
The air hurt my face today. Honestly, I walked from the car to the cart return area at the grocery store earlier today and the skin on my forehead felt like it was going to die. I was properly dressed and almost completely covered from head to toe except for that one area on my forehead and the bitter cold wind found it and attacked with a vengeance!
I have mentioned before how I grew up in a rather small town not too far from a few quiet large cities. When I was a teenager all I wanted to do was get to those cities as often as I could. Whether or be for shopping, hanging out or just to not be in the small town. I don’t think I ever really realized just how lovely small towns and the like can be, especially at Christmas time.
The snow seems to finally be gone now (well mostly) and even though I am glad to see the first signs of Spring popping up around the neighbourhood, I absolutely loved getting to capture one last portrait session with the gorgeous winter backdrop.
