When I showed up at the Arc Hotel to start Jenn’s bridal prep I walked into a room of cool, calm and collected ladies (and one of the cutest flowergirls ever, who let me know exactly who her mommy was and that I was not to steal her). They were all just so relaxed and positive, it was an absolutely joy to be around. Mix that with the absolutely stunning details Jenn had set aside for me (look at those shoes!!!) and it was definitely the absolute best way to start a wedding day.
Dave had a pretty great start too as he walked into a room of hilarious guys, drinks and classic SNES video games from their childhood, and mine too actually. In fact, looking through the photos while editing I actually had flashbacks to when my brother and his friends would sit in the basement playing the exact same games.
And as the guys headed over to the Arboretum for some photos and to wait for us ladies, the bridesmaids kept an eye on the weather. And as the weather started to turn, they started to close the blinds, hoping that perhaps Jenn wouldn’t notice and the rain would stop. But as I mentioned in their sneak peek, that rain definitely did not stop, at least not in a timely manner. And as luck would have it, the rain actually turned into hail. Weather so nasty that the limo driver had to pull over on the side of the Queen Elizabeth Driveway to deal with a window situation and as the rain was just so thick (also shout out to our limo driver who helped Dave and I keep umbrellas over the wedding party as much as possible in an effort to keep them dry (well drier)).
Bridesmaids drank champagne in the limo, groomsmen dried themselves off in the public bathroom and Dave and I arranged for our Plan B first look location to be used. In the end, it all worked out and everyone had a great time.
In fact, all of that unpleasant weather lead to some gorgeous skies across Dow’s Lake. I mean, I was in absolute heaven when those vibrant blues and purples made an appearance at sunset – and no, those aren’t enhanced in post-production, the colours really were that amazing!!
It was actually at the end of this wedding that I came to a realization, we seem to have found a pretty great trend that our couples have – they all seem to surround themselves with just the very best people. People like the super fun wedding parties that really know how to have a good time and make sure the bride and groom do too! And of course, family and friends who want nothing but the absolute best for the newly married couple. And that truly is what Jenn + Kyle’s wedding ended up being, full of love and well-wishes for this awesome couple who took the craziness of their wedding day in stride and ended up with an absolutely beautiful day even if it wasn’t exactly what they had originally planned.
