We have been offering Lifestyle Family Sessions for almost as long as we have been capturing weddings, but this past year we opened up the Newborn + Family Studio and I have loved every second of it! Being able to offer both styles to our families is so awesome.
I got to work with so many wonderful families and little ones in 2019 and getting to be part of all of these precious moments is really special to me. So much so that I have decided to add a new end-of-year post to celebrate all these adorable little babes + families. Hold onto your hats everyone, because this post is an absolute cuteness overload!
I’ve split this post up into a few different sections ranging from our Studio Newborn Sessions (and other studio sessions) through our Lifestyle Sessions and all the way to kiddos at our engagement sessions and weddings.
But I am of course starting with the newest addition to the mix, our studio newborns. I have been wanting to start this type of photography for a few years now but only recently worked up the courage to learn how to do it properly and safely. After a lot of planning, learning and practicing I was so excited to officially open the studio earlier this year and I am over the moon with how it was received by all of you!
I am so honoured to have been able to capture all of these little ones at such a precious (and short) time in their lives and I can’t wait to meet all the brand new little ones that will come through the doors in 2020!
With the studio came older little ones too as they celebrated all their many milestones! And although cake smashes are a messy affair that left me scrubbing icing off the floors several times this year, they are so incredibly fun to capture! Especially when they are combined with First Year Portraits.
A special shout out to Marie-France, Jonathan + Mackenzie who were the very first family in the studio as they captured Mackenzie’s 2-year portraits. I have been fortunate enough to capture so many milestones for this family since they got engaged and I look forward to celebrating many more over the years!!
I started my family photography journey with lifestyle work and it is still one of my favourite things to photograph. Getting to be able to capture not only the families but also their nursery and home details really is amazing.
But I think the most fun lifestyle sessions include older kiddos because they are just hilarious! It can be a little tricky sometimes, as by then they have their own personalities and opinions and sometimes they just don’t want anymore photos, but they are pretty much always willing to throw leaves at a complete stranger upon request, haha!
I’m also including a few special family photos in this post as a few of our couples had the wonderful idea of including their kiddos in their engagement sessions! I am absolutely love being able to do a combined engagement and family session as a wedding is about more than just the couple, it’s about the entire family!
And the fact that kids are an integral part of any family’s wedding day is further proven by how much our couple’s love including them in their wedding photos too. From the couple’s own kids to their nieces and nephews, kids are hilarious at weddings and love stealing the spotlight from the happy couple, haha!
And of course, I couldn’t forget about Little Amber. She was the very last baby in the studio in 2019 and although her photos aren’t quite ready yet, I couldn’t possibly post about our 2019 babies and families without including her adorable little face!
I think this very well might be the cutest blog post I have ever put together!
Huge thanks to all of the families who let me capture these moments in your lives and of course all of your precious little ones!
