The original plan was for Sweet Little Ella to have a cake smash outside in the Arboretum followed by a big family birthday party at home a couple weeks later. And although she did have a cake smash in the Arboretum, thanks to Covid, her birthday party was a quiet affair at home with Mom and Dad. But it was all still great fun, and hey, this way she got to smash multiple cakes and donut towers … well, she got to touch them all slightly and then get really upset about it – same thing right?!

Jonathan once joked that I should get a punch card like they have at coffee shops for clients, like themselves, who come back year after year for their photo sessions. I do love getting catch up with our couples and families each year, especially when they are filled with people like Marie-France + Jonathan, who are just about the most thoughtful people out there. And their little girl Mackenzie just gets cuter and cuter every time I see her!!
A willow tree, run through the sprinkler, splash in the pool, and lots of adorable hugs — this family session pretty much had it all, including three of the kindest people ever. I absolutely adore this little family and any day I get to hang out with them is always a great one!!
Ottawa had a really weird Fall season this year. The leaves took their time arriving and when they did they really didn’t last long. Or rather, they didn’t last long on their own as they were quickly joined by a decent layer of snow everywhere. I forget who I heard this phrase from, but it was like having two seasons in one. It worked out really well for the look of photos, but it definitely made Fall photos a fair bit colder than they have been in past years. Lucky for me I had some pretty fantastic families to work with these guys!
When I first sat down to write this blog post, I thought I might have a hard time figuring out what to write about. I have worked with this amazing family so many times now, I thought I must have said all there is to say! But luckily, they are so awesome that each and every time I get to hang out with them I learn a bit more about them. And better than that, I get to see their girls’ personalities develop and shine and it really is so truly awesome to witness!
